A question for those wiser: How many reloads before you toss the brass? What do you gauge it by? Is it different for your different guns? I run mild loads in military brass and have gone as far as 7 reloads in 30-06 brass before getting chicken. I feel around in the cases for rings or rough spots and haven’t found much to worry about. Once in a while I’ll find a split neck or loose primer pocket but these are rare. Even sawed a couple in half just to have a look and found virtually nothing of concern. I don’t segregate my 30-06 ammo by gun and use the same load in my Garands, 1903’s and 1917. So it’s been through both bolt guns and semiauto’s. My .223 service rifle loads are little warmer but even after 4 reloads I’m finding little reason to scrap the brass. I’m sure there’s a lot of variables that come into play but I figured better safe than sorry, stopping at 6 reloads on my 30-06 and 4 on the .223’s. So what’s everyone else’s opinion?
