Having time on my hands and being OCD about my ammo I weighed some prepped Lake City 5.56 brass. It ran about 96 grains +/-. I dug box of Lapua out and weighed it. It was less consistent than the LC! Knowing no one would believe me I tried a second scale, same story. Weighing 20 pieces of each and running the results through my favorite internet calculator yielded the following: LC 18 95.97 gr mean weight Min 95.1 gr Max 97.4 gr Extreme spread 2.3 gr Standard deviation .5119 gr Lapua 95.12 gr mean weight Min 93.8 gr Max 96.5 gr Extreme spread 2.7 gr Standard deviation .9579 The SD was the eye opener. So is Lapua really the better of the two?
